₮he 'Phantom of the Opera' is an urban legend regarding the infamous Opera Populaire - very much akin to the common 'theatre ghost'. The only difference between the myths, it seems, is that the Opera Ghost has shown to be a bit more mischievous and sometimes more malicious in intention than the commonplace tales of his theatre counterpart. The ballerinas describe the Phantom as a 'ghastly man of fashion' since, although he is said to always appear well dressed, his face resembles a Death's Head, and any who sets eyes upon it are met with an unfortunate end.
The staff of the Opera Populaire have blamed the Phantom of countless incidents, including: the sabotage of live performances and rehearsals either by destroying sets, impairing the performers, or other means - stalking various cast and crew through the corridors, speaking to others though nobody can be seen, possessing pianos, stealing stable horses, and, according to certain scene shifters, causing the death of several workers through strangulation. There are even several rumours the Ghost frequently threatens the managers into leaving one Box Five open for his sole use. Any mention of these accusations within earshot of the pair in question, on the other hand, will be immediately declined.
But don't worry. There is no need to feel afraid as long as you keep your hand at the level of your eyes.
